The Cellar started in 1959 as a coffee house/beatnik joint with jazz, poetry, folk music and all that kind of Beatnick thing. Somewhere around 1965 rock was introduced and took over. It was a place that you could express yourself and play what ever you wanted to as long as it was entertaining. So that's all a musician needed . A place that was wild enough to try new things and create their own style of music. A lot of great musicians either got their start or worked on their act until it was ready to get released on the world. This set of Cd's brings some of the bands back with the original members and some are bands made up of musicians that played at the Cellar during it's heyday of late 60' & early 70's. Many are working bands today, either in clubs or concerts around the world.
