'The Cautionary Tale of the Carnypig' was written and recorded between October 2009 and February 2010 in the heart of middle England, then mixed and mastered at the Streetlight Farm in rural California throughout March 2010 - and the sound of the music reflects these two diverse environments, resulting in an album which wears its English heart on its American sleeve. The album captures the raw emotion of the original live one-man performances of the songs, which have a scuffed-up honesty to them all centred around the album's central theme: live for today, 'cause you may be gone tomorrow - and life's actually a pretty good thing.
