Album Notes

Existential alt-indie folk -- this is perhaps the best description of a record that defies easy categorization. If you are looking for short catchy pop songs, you may be disappointed. If you are looking for some lyrical meat and a highly original songwriter who is taking seriously the bigger questions of life in a creative musical way, you will like what you hear. The record will appeal to intelligent listeners who like their songs to reward careful and repeated listens. It's decidedly guitar-driven, and so will appeal to musicians. It will also appeal to the spiritually and emotionally poor as well as to seekers and people who are sick of easy answers and cliches. The songs are searching and questioning.

Beautiful Folk Music

Singer/songwriter Charles Klamut and his latest CD, “Space Traveler,” will stimulate your mind and soul with beautiful Folk compositions. Sit back, relax, and listen as Klamut cleverly delves into writing finely crafted songs about life’s ups and downs. Take note of his voice which is smooth and silky while he plays his acoustic guitar with easy flowing sincerity. Right from the opening track, “7 More Stories,” you will be drawn into the musical perception that Klamut has to offer on this album. On the song, “Unbury Me,” there is a sweet female harmony that adds a velvety touch to the stirring lyrics and soft guitar. The strong and powerful song, “Where Do You Go,” is edgy and straight forward while the rootsy lyrics and vocal expression are quite impressive. Take a listen to “Space Traveler,” as it is an insightful, memorable, and endlessly enjoyable Folk album.

Space Traveler Could Rock Your World (sorry for the cliche)

Good art touches upon the human experience, great art expresses what we feel better than we could express it ourselves. This is why Space Traveler has become my favorite album and also for many of my friends. Authenticity is often so hard to find, in spite of the fact that we crave it. This Album is REAL, and is refreshing with its honesty. Klamut's beautiful songs, while enjoyable just to listen to, often get replayed over and over because they are pregant with meaning. Space Traveler is about the journey to and through the heart. But unlike a lot of music that expresses angst inherent to self-awareness, Space Traveler expresses hope, not with naive optimism, but demonstrating that struggle is the path to maturity and actual freedom. The search for oneself leads to finding a journey towards others. Space Traveler beatiful expresses love, the difficulty in reaching another person, wanting to break out of defensiveness and cynicism, the need to be reached by someone else, true friendship, being lost to oneself, and finding oneself by daring to be true to the deep desires of the heart. Space Traveler is the music of the 'hardened optimist', who understands cynicism from experience, and from wisdom refuses to surrender the realties of love and connection. My friends and I love listening to this wounded war veteran of life, who tells me with real certainty that life is beautiful.
