ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Charlie Morris’s fourth BluesPages release was recorded live at the 2007 Montreux Jazz Festival. It’s the first CD that captures the sophisticated sounds and raucous fun of Charlie’s live show.
The nine original songs (plus two covers) show why Charlie has been called “the bridge between the Blues world and the songwriting world.” They feature sophisticated lyrics and an eclectic palette that flirts with country, funk and jam-rock styles, but never strays too far from the Blues.
The Swiss band has been with Charlie for several years now, and they are red hot. Markus Baumer’s endlessly inventive piano lines are the perfect foil for Charlie’s smooth and slinky solos. Bassist David Clarke can lay down a bucket-of-beans solo with the best of them, and Marco “Speedy” Jeanrenaud combines the snappy snare of a young Turk with the rock-solid groove of the mature road warrior.
