Electro-funk inspired songs about jobs, money, and self-worth. Heavily synth-oriented with strange acoustic percussion, e.g., scissors, ratchets, and drills. Party music with an undertone of conspiracy and frustration. Not techno.

Album Notes

My name is Charlie Slick. My goal in life has always been to be a successful musician, though, the motivations behind this goal have changed, music is still my frontier. Being a musician, one is always faced with the challenge of earning money while still retaining artistic integrity. Some people feel that any sort of lucrative compensation for art is a terrible compromise, while others have no qualms about blatantly imitating current trends to cash in. personally, I find neither of these extremes very compelling, but rather, the places where we draw, and walk the line between them.

I feel that the spectrum of different places people choose to draw this line is an art-form in itself, and says more about the relationship between people and art than any idealist martyr could ever convey.

This line and it’s compromises relate to more than just musicians. We all choose the placement of this line whenever we get a job, because we all must decide how much our time is worth. We work jobs with less personal satisfaction because they pay us more, and we work jobs that pay us almost nothing, because we enjoy them.

in that respect, we are all artist, our art is our compromises. Personal vs. Professional life.

Elron Hubbard is a little about that.

Thanks Shelley, Chris Sandon, and everyone who helped me with the making of this album.
