This song (words and music) came to me in a dream when I was recovering from surgery. A year after I had actually written the words down, I decided I had better get the music in writing before I forgot it. A week after I did that I was asked to sing at the memorial service of a dear friend. I quickly asked my music director and arranger, Frank Owens, to write a piano arrangement for me so I could sing the song in Aspen, Colorado. As soon as I came back I asked him to write for a full string orchestra, plus french horn, etc because I wanted to record the song. The glitch was that I was having another operation (no... NOT cosmetic) in 6 weeks so we had to move fast. I did the vocal track the day before I went into surgery. I could not make a mistake because I was then not going to be allowed to sing for another 4 months. And I had to be away much of the time in between.
More interestingly...while I was getting all of this accomplished, I kept seeing angels in my peripheral vision, out of the corner of my eye, somewhere in a cloud...in a tree...all over...the strangest thing...I don't usually "see" things. I'd think I saw one then take a second look and there would be no one there. This kept happening for about 2 months. The day the final CD Master was made...it stopped. I haven't seen them since. I believe they are still here, I guess they just don't need to keep poking me to get it done. They are happy now and so am I.
