Album Notes

Note from the artist: Songwriting is great therapy. Having retired from a career as a music educator in Tennessee’s public schools, I now have both the time and need for such therapy sessions. This album, seventeen songs that tell the story of a young man’s long trip across the U.S., comes from those many sessions. Fortunately, my son, Joel, a fine songwriter himself, did some co-writing with me, and four of Nashville’s top musicians (fiddler Derek Deakins, guitarist Beau Tackett, bassist David Spicher, and drummer Tracy Broussard) all seemed to like these little ditties well enough to add their considerable talents to recording the project. You will find many styles incorporated in the songs here -- pop, rock, blues, country, etc. -- but the styles used promote the story and mood and transition naturally from song to song as recurring themes and motifs help tie them all together. If you love music and a good story, I think you will really enjoy this concept album. Pop the disc in your player, crank up the volume, and enjoy the ride.
