Album Notes

In 2008, I sold my house in Nashville. I was beginning a new chapter of my life, surrendering to the unknown. A friend of mine let me come live in a rustic cabin in Burns, TN. I noticed a framed needlepoint leaning against the wall, and saw that it was The Serenity Prayer. I hung it over the fireplace, got out my dulcimer, and began playing and singing. The first time I sang "The Serenity Prayer," I cried. A few months later, when I recorded it in the studio, I cried. It feels like a warm hug from God. This prayer continues to give me peace whenever I sing it.

"Skin" is a song about how unique and different we are, and yet the same underneath.

"The Mind Spins" was a chant to keep my mind from spinning. I also use prayer and meditation on a daily basis.

"You've Got the Most Beautiful Eyes" is dedicated to so many beautiful people over the years who have been my beacons in the storm.

I wrote "Breathing" during a challenging time in my life. So, Easy Does It, One Day At a Time. Just keep breathing.

I wrote "Freedom" because all of my life has been about finding the freedom within. I want to be happy, joyous and free. I have met several enlightened beings in my life whom I consider to be free, and I aspire to be like them.
