Album Notes

Inspired by the darker, more ethereal recent rock trends like Blonde Redhead and the Black Heart Procession miXed with the more twisted side of psychedlia such as Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath, Circus Minor was formed in 2002. When friends Daniel Denton (vocals, bass) and Sean Simmons (guitars) met Adam Alt (Street Drum Corps.) through a mutual acquaintance, the musical endeavor began.

While playing bass for Metric on a west tour, Daniel met Ryan Hadlock (Blonde Redhead, Steve Malkmus and the Jicks) and they set out to record their first record at Bear Creek Studios. They finished this self -titled debut with Jim Wood (Dishwalla) in 2005. While playing shows up and down the west coast, Circus Minor recorded another record "This House Is Haunted" with Todd Spitzer in 2006. It's release was welcomed with a monday night residency @ Spaceland in Los Angeles. During this time, two of their song were used in the independent film "I'll Be There With You", directed by Akihiro Kitamura.

Expanding upon the music, Circus Minor layed down the basic tracks for "The Order of the Slithering Serpent" with Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dandy Warhols). The group tried a more experimental sound, working with a wide variety of instruments and musicians to create a bigger sound (Tom Terrell- Nas' band and Mulatto, Ricky Rasura- The Polyphonic Spree, Gabe Noel- Vosotros, Tom Lea- Dakah). Among recent show in LA, CM opened up for the formerly mentioned Black Heart Procession. We are currently shopping the latest record to labels who share our vision.
