This fourth release from Citofono (AKA Intercom) brings us a new and more subtle album, while still maintaining the influence of krautrock and early German kosmische musik. This release is also available as a limited edition CD, with unique hand-painted artwork and color inserts. The album was recorded over a 2+ year period in the group's own mysterious underground studio. It showcases the band's ongoing fascination with synthesizers from different eras, as well as synthesizer music. Lush album-opener Lunar Revolutions sets the mood and projects the listener on a fantastic journey into space. With its engaging motorik beat and synthesizer hooks, "Intercom with hats" presents a poppier incarnation of the band, like the first moments of hope and courage that precede a difficult endeavour. This endeavour is embodied in the expansive "Lazer Babylon", tracing a road filled with doubt, adventurous solos, discoveries in D-Minor and apreggiating contemplation. Notable drummer Simon Besré from Duchess Says makes a guest appearance on the the moody track Gibraltar. On "Planète Sauvage" we float in strange territory. The epic Heliopolis is a 3-part voyage. The parts are titled "The Path of the Ancient Gods", "Struggle of the Believers" and "Surrender to the Night", and feature a haunting exploration of the Innerverse and the Outerverse, and the fate of early civilisations. Montréal Canada now has its Düsseldorf repetitive highway song : Cassette de Noise, a 19-minute song that glorifies the underground noise scene from this eclectic city.
