Album Notes

The Cool Water Band headquarters in Prescott, Arizona. We are all transplants: Tom Calvert moved to Prescott from California; Carl Brehmer came here from North Dakota; Dick Jonas is a native Floridian; Dick’s wife, Mary, the band’s #1 Roadie, sound tech, and light percussionist, was born and raised in Phoenix.

The boys in the band got acquainted while jamming with Prescott’s Monday Night Blue Grass Jam group. We soon discovered that we shared musical interests beyond blue grass, including folk, classic country, classic rock, westerns, and the military folk songs Dick had been producing during 22 years as a U. S. Air Force jet fighter pilot.

At the time, Dick and Mary were doing a monthly pro bono gig at the Prescott Veterans Administration hospital. Realizing that the show would be much better with Carl and Tom’s vocal talent and the added variety of their instruments, they were invited to join. Other gigs followed — weekly stints in a Chino Valley restaurant, Prescott’s J.S Acker projects, retirement communities in Tucson and Sun City, and repeated gigs in California.

This album is one of our first two recording productions. If you are a fan of the classics, and if you have a patriotic streak, we think you’ll like our kind of music.

This album is dedicated to Dave Moll, with the deepest admiration, respect, and affection. A charter member of the Cool Water band, Dave was the band's bass player and artistic conscience. He passed away in April of 2009. We miss you, Dave; see you on the other side.
