Grammy award-winning engineer, Jim Robeson, describes Carr’s music and voice as “a treat.” Simply put, “we don’t often get to work with vocalist this talented.” Also a four-time WAMMIE award recipient and two-time Grammy winner, Robeson was the engineer behind the board for Mary Chapin Carpenter’s Grammy award-winning album, Time*Sex*Love*. Robeson was very excited and pleased to work with Carr. He often expressed his amazement with Carr's vocals and songwriting while working on the Turn Blue EP. Rickie Simkins, currently the mandolin and fiddle man for Emmylou Harris, also came to collaborate on the EP. An excited Simpkins proclaims “I’ve played and sang with everyone from Emmylou, to Linda Ronstadt, to Dolly Parton and this girl has got it!”
Turn Blue captures Carr’s talents in a glimpse. Each track demonstrates her impeccable and unique vocals and her personal and mature lyrics. The recording is paving the way for the writer’s new album. It is her first real mark on the country music scene; however, it is certainly the first of many. Carr’s songwriting abilities will definitely allow her to enjoy longevity in the music industry.
