Album Notes

The guitar itself is an "Ancient Image", it's ancestry actually dating back thousands of years to prehistoric times. The earliest "Tars", the word meaning string in numerous cultures around the world, begin with the primitive harp. The first of these harps were the single string instrument that appears in cave paintings created thousands of years ago, as what were thought to be a hunting bow, but now are considered by archaeologists to have been "musical" bows. This musical bow may have actually preceded the use of such bows as a weapon, although the two concepts may have evolved simultaneously. Their use seems to perhaps been ceremonial, in connection to the earliest ideas of worship in some sort of prayer to whatever greater power was thought to provide the basic needs for survival... food, shelter and safety. It was also a symbol for the "Rainbow", a sign that a storm had passed and all was safe in the world again. This same symbolism is reiterated in the Biblical account of Noah's Arc at the end of the flooding and land was in sight.

The guitar is essentially the present day representation of this ancient image, we are the users of this ancient tool, the descendants of those who first made music. The album cover for this selection is a graphic art rendition of one of the gigantic images on the Nazca Desert of Peru. These images are so large that they are only fully recognizable from the air, and some have speculated to have been placed there as signs to be read by Gods, or perhaps possibly even aliens from outer space that once visited the South America. While there is no direct connection between the caves in Europe and Peru, there is still the quest for the basic human needs, and we still offer prayer and have beliefs in a higher power that provides these and protects us from the storms of life whatever they might be.

We are the descendants of those who created and used this "Ancient Image", and so I call this time we live in the "Age Of Guitar". We are still in searchers for answers and the truth... and the guitar in the hands of many seems to be letting the light shine through the darkness of desperation.
