Album Notes

TO BE FREE is organist Dave Braham's second release. A veteran musician and educator, Braham has toured and recorded with jazz luminaries like Houston Person and Etta Jones, Della Griffin, Johnny Lytle, Mark Murphy and Lou Donaldson. This session features Warren Vache (in his first recording with organ); McGriff vet Bill Easley on tenor, alto, clarinet and flute; the great guitarist Vinnie Corrao, who has worked with Willis Jackson and Don Patterson; and the gorgeous vocals of Ms. Doris Spears, the "Duchess of Jazz." In addition to his solid, swinging originals, Braham offers unique arrangements of great tunes, complete with burning solos by all. This organ master allows his B-3 to be free! As with all Random Act Records releases, this project donates 10% to charity. TO BE FREE benefits the Jazz Foundation of America.
