Allison De Salvo is a unique performer of children's music who has been creating innovative music concerts for young audiences since founding World of Song (WOS) Productions in 1992. Classically trained, Allison is a professional singer and actress who combines her talents and training in music, dance and theater with ten years of teaching experience in centers for early childhood.

Allison's joyful presence, energetic vocal and dramatic style inspire children nurturing individual creativity and an appreciation of the arts.

"Happiness Is All Around You" is Allison's debut CD of children's music geared for ages 1-7. It is a joyful collection of sixteen original and traditional songs which celebrate the discovery of life as seen through a child's eyes.

In "Music Train", violins mimic train whistles inviting the young listener to come on board and embark on a musical journey.

Kids will want to dance along in the jazzy rendition of "You Gotta Sing" and sing along in the accapella version of "The More We Get Together".

Some of the most playful and poignant songs on the CD are original tunes by Allison DeSalvo, which touch upon subjects that resonate for families today.

"Special Game", a fast-paced, humorous duet between a mother and her daughter, depicts how even in the midst of busy schedules' parents and children create special moments and life long memories.

The title song "Happiness Is All Around You" is a tribute to Allison's own childhood, set against a background of Afro-Caribbean rhythms that conjure up her own memories of beach days in San Francisco under the glow of a tangerine sun.

The wistful melody of "Goodnight Lullaby" eases the restless child into sleep, gently taking them through all the parts of their body, while soothing any fears or anxiety.

Other original contributions are by Allison's longtime friend and collaborator, Mark Caruso. His delightful do-op, "On My Own", portrays the first day of school, taking a child through initial feelings of uncertainty to newfound confidence, while "Mom and Dad" tenderly honors the love between parents and their children.

Allison is accompanied by an array of wonderful musicians and several children on the CD. A family of two brothers and a sister sing with her on several songs, bringing a charm and freshness not often heard.

Since its release "Happiness Is All Around You" has been winning praise from parents and educators from New York to California.

Her "contagious enthusiasm, creative spirit and beautiful, singing voice", says Toni Wisti of Discovery Programs, "is why parents are already saying their kids are listening to the CD everyday, dancing, play-acting and memorizing songs, making them their own. " Allison says, "I try to sing from the point of view of the child, using emotions that mirror their own experience, which they can identify with and learn from." In this way this CD seeks not only to entertain but educate, by being a catalyst that sparks and encourages children's own self-expression and imaginations.

All these songs capture the spirit of family, of happiness shared, and of lessons learned, while embodying the awareness that music inspires and unifies us all when presented in a loving atmosphere of learning and joy.
