This CD pays homage to the great American Songbook singers, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Nat Cole. More contemporary artists, Bobby Darin, Barry Manilow and Van Morrison are honored, as well. The eclectic mix of musical genres includes Brazilian Bossa Novas, a Beatles song, a pop ballad, and a seventies "horn band" hit.
A trio led by Emmy and Grammy winning pianist, Mike Renzi, who has worked with many well known artists, accompanies the vocals on each track. A horn section adds sonic flavor to six of the fourteen tracks, with extraordinary solos by members of the section. Jazz harmonica, played by Boston's Mike Turk, sets an ethereal mood on three songs.
Dick, who has a wide fan base in New England, performs the vocals and plays bass in the trio with Renzi and Vinny Pagano, drums. In Mike Renzi's liner notes he says, "Dicks great singing, selection of songs, and the ease with which he performs in any style, guaranteed a musically rewarding experience. His warm and sensitive reading of "Like A Lover" and "I Wish I'd Met You," is simply beautiful. There's something for everyone on this wonderful "musical feast". Enjoy!"
