Album Notes

In 2005 I came back home. At the time I didn’t know why nor did I understand why I needed pack it all up and leave my life in the city, but the call of Łù’àn Män Keyi (Kluane) was too strong to ignore. There are too few times in a person’s life when we put reason aside and trust our instincts. I am grateful that I was able to jump into the river and let the Creator take me to where I was meant to be.

Life in Burwash became the canvas upon which these songs were written. For such a small place there is a never ending flow of inspiration and creative energy. Our roots go deep and our stories are meant to live forever. Our culture, our heritage and our future are ours to create.

"The Breaking Point" captures the sounds and heartbeat of the North. Like the North this album is diverse, questioning, resolute, joyful, and is filled with the hopefullness of one waiting for lighter days and warmer weather. With a world view of aboriginal culture, Diyet remains focused on the greater human potential and spirit which she has endeavoured to capture in some small part of in "The Breaking Point."
