Sometimes Step-dads can be a pain in the neck!

My Step-Dad's a Freakin Vampire! is a 2009 David Matheny film produced by Find the Light Studios. The film
was shot in the Kansas City area and stars Larry Peterson, Lahcen Anajjar, Brandon Martin, and John Redmond.

The film's soundtrack consists of 32 original orchestral tracks which were all recorded in the Dallas Metroplex. The Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, and French Horn were recorded at Elmwood Studios in Dallas. The rest of the score was recorded individually and at different locations by Real String Studios. The Bass Trombone, Violins, Violas, Cellos, Orchestral Bells, and Male Vocals were recorded in Fort Worth. The Timpani, Bass Drum, Suspended Cymbals, Gong, and Orchestral Chimes were recorded in Richardson. The Female Vocal parts were recorded in McKinney.


SOUNDTRACK MUSICIANS

JOHN CONGLETON (Woodwinds and Horn Recording Engineer)
John Congleton is a Grammy-nominated producer who works internationally as both a recording and mixing engineer. He has worked with many bands and artists, including Modest Mouse, Smog, Explosions in the Sky, R. Kelly, Erykah Badu, and Celine Dion. John is based out of Dallas and frequently works at Elmwood Studios while performing regularly with his own group, The Paperchase.

DALE POWERS (Timpani, Bass Drum, Suspended Cymbal, Gong, and Chimes)
Dale Powers is the Principal Timpanist and an original member of the Dallas Wind Symphony. He has also performed with the East Texas Symphony, the Richardson Symphony, and the Texas Wind Symphony. Dale was a high school band director for 15 years after receiving a Bachelor Degree in Education from Auburn and a Master of Music Degree from East Texas State University.

KELLI SHORT (Oboe)
Kelli Short is the Principal Oboist of the Richardson Symphony who has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony, the Dallas Wind Symphony, the Longview Symphony, and the Shreveport Symphony. She is an active freelance musician, a graduate of the Texas Christian University and Southern Methodist University, and was a featured soloist on WRR Classical 101.1FM.

SARA SCURRY (Bassoon)
Sara Scurry is a private Bassoon Instructor and freelancer who served as Principal Bassoonist in the Shreveport Symphony for six months and Principal Bassoonist of the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra for two years. She graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy, attended the Julliard School and earned a bachelor of music degree at Oberlin Conservatory, where she was a student of George Sakakeeny.

HEATHER TEST (French Horn)
Heather Test is an adjunct Horn Instructor at the University of Texas in Arlington. She is an active freelance horn player who regularly plays with the Allen Philharmonic, the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, and Polaris Winds while maintaining a studio of private students. Heather has a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music in Performance from Southern Methodist University.

SIMON WILLATS (Bass Trombone)
Simon Willats is a Low Brass Specialist for the Plano ISD and busy freelancer who has performed with the Dallas Wind Symphony, the Texas Chamber Orchestra, the Richardson Symphony, the Dallas Jazz Orchestra, and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. He is a graduate of the University Of London and has studied with Roger Brenner, Denis Wick and Chris Mowat. Simon has also recorded for the BBC and PBS as well as numerous other artists.

JEANENE IOPPOLO JOHNSON (Clarinet)
Jeanene Ioppolo Johnson is an adjunct Clarinet Professor at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. She is a busy freelancer who also teaches Clarinet privately. Jeanene has a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Texas Wesleyan University and a Master's Degree in Clarinet Performance from Texas Christian University.

AUDREY EASLEY (Flute and Piccolo)
Audrey Easley is the sole Principal Flautist of the Chameleon Chamber Group,
the Polyphonic Spree, and DJ EWI. She is also the star of the program, Flute Rock.
Audrey is a busy freelancer who studied Flute and was a frequent performer of contemporary music while attending the University of North Texas in Denton.

CYNTHIA BURNS (Vocals)
Cynthia Burns is a freelance Pianist and Vocalist who works as a studio musician, accompanist in orchestras for musical theater, and film. In addition to teaching piano and voice, Cynthia also coaches musical theater in her private studio. Cynthia has been a Director of children’s and adult choirs for 20 years. Cynthia was a music educator at Richardson ISD, Fine Arts Department, and has a degree in Vocal Performance from Baylor University.

LEAH ROMMEL (Vocals)
Leah Rommel has been a part of her school show choir for 4 years and has also recorded many soundtrack projects with WOW Recording Studio in Dallas. As a member of the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas, she had the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall. She has also played the role of Jasmine in Disney's "Aladdin" with the Allen Community Theater in 2007.

HANNAH ROMMEL (Vocals)
Hannah Rommel has been a part of her school show choir for 2 years. She has also performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra during their holiday show, "Hope, A Christmas Celebration". In December 2008, Hannah enjoyed performing as Belle in Ereckson's musical production of "Beauty and the Beast".

DOUGLAS EDWARD (Composer, Engineer, Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano, Bells, Vocals)
Douglas Edward is a three-time festival award winning composer whose music has supported many films that have both national and international distribution. He is also a freelancer on Piano and Violin, having performed with groups such as Flickerstick, Black Tie Dynasty, Calhoun, The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, Alan, and the February Chorus. Douglas has a degree in Music Composition from the University of North Texas in Denton.
