This album was recorded live in Ellis’ house with a single microphone. Other than a few seconds of doubling, there are no overdubs or extra guitars on the album. One man, one guitar, and one mic.
Live from the Laundry Room was recorded in Athens, GA in the spring of 2010. Initially intended as an underground Bonnaroo release, Ellis Lamar Wright is pleased to bring this (raw) recording to itunes and a larger audience. Turns out, there is a better to way to distribute music than by handing it out one copy at a time.
Ellis is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar performance from the University of Georgia. He studies classical guitar with John Sutherland and studies Jazz theory and improvisation with Steve Dancz. Ellis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems from U.G.A. as well.
Ellis teaches guitar at the University of Georgia community music school and would love to brag that people are buying his music on itunes.
Listeners can expect two new releases this year from Ellis. Another classical guitar album is in the works as is a singer/songwriter album due in the fall of 2012.
