Real, heavy music
author: Mason
So much of today's "heavy" music is a total disappointment to me (a fairly old-school thrasher raised on a chunky diet of Testament, Pantera, Sepultura and the like). Why are the guitars so low in the mix? Where are the head-banging riffs? Where are the singer's balls? You call that a guitar solo? In short, WHERE'S the BEEF?!? Too many bands seem to think that drop tuning, super-compressed double kick drums, a quasi-operatic singer and tattoos are all you need to be "heavy" these days.
*** NOT SO WITH ENDERS GAME ***
My first listen to "What We've Lost" led uninterrupted into the second, fifth, tenth listens. This is truly heavy stuff with a nice balance of all the things that make great heavy music great, without leaning on any one element so much as to make it tiresome. No gimmicks, just authentic metal from guys who know how to deliver thanks to obvious musical talent and genuine passion for the genre. The rhythm section, nice and tight, provides a consistent and rock-solid foundation. Strong, nicely dynamic vocals include actual melodic singing as well as the all-important ballsy screaming. The guitars balance chugga-chugga and shredding with great riffs, solos and heavy yet crystal-clear tones. You WILL turn it up. You WILL bang your head. You WILL buy this album and YOU WILL DIG IT!

Best album I've heard in a long time
author: Marc
I used to play in a band years ago with one of the members of this band, Shon. He mentioned that they released a new album that has been in the works for a while, so I ordered a few copies for myself and friends. I've listened to it fairly nonstop for a couple of weeks now.
This is one of those albums you can listen to from start to end and repeat and it doesn't get stale. Every song is complex, yet listenable with flavors of familiar bands from years past and current times.
The vocals in particular are well done. Shon brought forth a nice combination of melody, old school howling screams, and some wicked cookie monster wailing.
Every song has a great mix, full sounding and thought out, with some epic lead guitar runs, and chunky complex rhythms and melodies.
If you're a fan of older metal from the 80's and 90's, you'll pick up some sprinkles here and there from some of your favorites. While listening to this album I was reminded of Anthrax, Queensryche, Angel Dust, Hammerfall, Angel Dust, Racer X, and a few others.
I actually haven't bought much new music because it either isn't very interesting to me as a musician, or it all sounds the same. "What We've Lost" is the fix I've been looking for. It's energetic, interesting, melodic, and aggressive. I dare you to not love this album.
