Album Notes

This album is my first musical statement to the world. To hear it is to know me intimately.
I took special care in selecting the musicians as well as the compositions for this project. Each composition is spiritual by nature. Some of them were taken directly from a church pew hymnal while others are interpretations of well known compositions from the Pop, Gospel, and Classic Rock genres.

I believe that the musicians relationship with each other is just as important as the music itself. To that end, I chose to share this first musical offering with extremely gifted friends who also happen to play music.

It's my desire that this album serves as an uplifting force in your life, the way so many great artists' albums have served me. I did not set out to show off a musical skill set or to dazzle and amaze because there is enough dazzle and amazement in the jazz world. My goal is to bring music back to the masses. Music that people can feel, that stays a while in your heart and mind. I hope you enjoy this first installment.

First, I admit to not knowing much about jazz at all. But I bought the album because of the artist, and opened it up in my classroom, where my 3 year olds scrambled to see what Ms Kelly had brought them. I put it in, and watched as my little munchkins danced away. I wasn't sure what to expect from this album, wasn't even sure how much I'd like it. But I love it (and so do the little ones who request I put in the "music with no words" to dance to). Amazingly great job, EJ!!!
