This hasn't left my heavy rotation stack since I first heard the album six months ago. "Keep It To Yourself" is one of the finest roots-rock albums to come down the pike in a long time. The songs are musical, solid, hearty and they stick to your ribs. You find yourself humming, and enjoying humming, a different track after each listen. Koskinen shows his mastery of American Electric music in both his writing and playing across the entirety of the album. His deft touch as an author and musician covers a range of modes from track to track, from ebullient rock and roll, to spoken word groove, to melancholic lament of love lost, Koskinen's songs run the gamut of emotion. He's a man who's obviously been paying attention, and has much to show for it. Some touchstones include Sun Records, Mark Knopfler, Kevin Gordon, Hank III, but really it's all Koskinen. This is the amazing American music you haven't yet heard.
