Album Notes

This is happy music. Standing Right Beside A Rainbow contains some of the best in musical comedy and hit songs from 1905 to 1935, plus two orginals written in the style of the early 1930's. With approval (and liner notes) by Miles Kreuger of the Institute of the American Musical, this collection of vintage hits is sure to please the most discriminating ear. Delivered
in the same spirit as early recording artists such as Al Jolson, Eddie Cantor, Nick Lucas, Dick Powell, the Happiness Boys, and others, you'll hear the same wonderful vintage sound without the crackles and skips of the old 78s.
The performers are jazz vocalist Sharon Evans and impressionist Rick Rogers. Described as "A smile in motion," together they are Evans and Rogers, the hot new vaudeville song and dance team. Behind Evans and Rogers is a small but
talented crew that includes one of the most popular side men in Los Angeles, Dan Weinstein, along with master pianist of the open mic, James Lent.
If you love the retro sound of the "good old days" or have never heard it, this CD is for you.

It's Evans and Rogers giving their all with their new old tin pan alley manner; as they sing songs from seemingly sunnier days. They really evoke the past and some of Rick's asides are really inside (he gives quick nods to a few of the icons of the day). It's obvious that they're having lots of fun and you will, too. Miles Krueger's liner notes are informative and well written, as per usual. No, It's not Dale Evans and Roy Rogers, or even Edith and Ginger.....it's Sharon and Rick.....two very talented people. Enjoy.
