"Julie never believed me when I told her she had an amazing voice. I remember first hearing her sing when we were dating. We were driving somewhere together and she started singing along with some artist on the radio. Being a musician i thought to myself, "Wow, if this works out maybe one day we could do a record together!". Well, it did work out and over a decade later here it is. Since that car ride we have traveled the world together, had children, put down roots. We always continued to sing together but never got to recording and celebrating it until now.
The songs for this record have emerged from our experience with the faith community Mosaic which started in our backyard here in Bellingham, WA. some 3 years ago. What began as a handful of friends re-imagining church and life together over BBQ and beer has become a thriving, vibrant, socially active community! That's an epic story for another time, but we hope you enjoy some of the music that has come from our victories and struggles along the path of learning to be more like Jesus."

OUR MOSIAC STORY
What began as a handful of friends gathering in a back yard re-imagining church and life together over BBQ and beer has become a thriving, vibrant, socially active faith community in Bellingham, WA! Our journey began in the summer of 2006 when about 50 friends got together in my backyard to discuss what it would look like to plant a new faith community. One that was intent on “being” the church and “being” Jesus. We were fed up with the complacency in our own lives and our tendency to simply “attend” church and longed for something more, something deeper. It was at that time we started Beautify Sundays where at least once a month we go out and do practical service projects in our community in place of our normal gathering. We serve at everywhere from the local AIDS hospice to our own community garden and literally hundreds of places in between.
After that first backyard gathering we began calling ourselves Mosaic and had several BBQs throughout the summer to continue our exploration of “being”. The name Mosaic really resonated with us because it speaks of broken pieces that come together to create something beautiful, a work of art. We think the church is like that. Each person is valuable even though we are not perfect. It is in coming together that we form something incredible, an art piece of community.
The excitement grew and soon we had over 100 people crammed into lawns for great evenings of food, music, teaching and discussion.
Now at a few hundred folks, Mosaic gathers at 10am every Sunday at The Majestic in downtown Bellingham. We still eat together every week, sing original music and discuss our longing to “be” and are finding our rhythm! We now do several simultaneous projects on Beautify Sundays. We invite you to join us in this unfolding story. The Mosaic may just need your piece!
