"Do what you love. Know your own bone; gnaw at it, bury it, unearth it, and gnaw it still."
~Henry David Thoreau
First Story Jumper is a modern rock band hailing from Washington State consisting of five members that truly love what they do. FSJ started in 2006 as a cross state collaboration by principle songwriter and guitarist Kenneth McLarin, who resides in Seattle, with bassist Michael Ninemire and Drummer Eric Holje from Spokane. While working out songwriting demos they recruited guitarist Jae Ham and vocalist David Arnold to round out the group. Jae and Kenneth both shared a love of writing, recording, and the production process, as both have extensive experience working with artists in the Pacific Northwest.
There was an immediate draw and love of the early demo material, but it wasn't until the entire band contributed that a unique soundscape developed. Produced and recorded by the band, their debut self titled album has been released online and will soon be available on CD.
The members of FSJ have been inspired by many modern rock bands that combine passion, rhythm, melody, love of production and song craft. Their sound deftly blends many styles and influences while carving out a unique and true identity. The writing is personal and emotional and their vision of performance has allowed them to truly stand out. FSJ Combines the edge of Blink 182, the melodic and lyrical depth of Death Cab and the pop prowess of Augustana. FSJ has been influenced by artists such as Jimmy Eat World, Foo Fighters, Mute Math, BT, Switchfoot, Nada Surf, Nine Inch Nails, Thrice, Coldplay, and Muse. During the writing and recording process they worked to define their own space, a collide-scope of electro-acoustic anthem rock, if you will.
FSJ is barely on its opening chapter, the band is energized and ready to face the future with open arms.
