Album Notes

Vanguard is the powerful debut album of Danish metallers Forcentury. The album contains 9 tracks that at the same time are very different from each other, but also share a common heritage in the classic branches of metal. The avid listener easily identifies influences from speed metal, power metal, thrash, and progressive rock and metal - all brands of music, that the band openly declares its deep love for. In terms of mood, the songs are definitely melodic, heavy, and dramatic, and some have a distinct progressive edge. In the more riffy/thrashy end of the spectrum, songs like Through the Eyes of Thunder and Speculator stand out with pounding drums and bass and guitars shredding on top, whereas Valhalla's Call and Rise of the Machines are more mellow, dramatic and progressive in melody and rhythm.

Sweet Danish!

Aaaoooohhhh!! Forcentury play flippin' mindboggling prog metal! Take the best pieces from Eldritch, Vanden Plas and Symphony X and toss them into the dough of this Danish band to get the sound. The vocals that make up the filling are extra sweet and better than those in any of the bands I mentioned above. YES, you heard me...BETTER! One of the top 10 albums in the metal genre from 2010! Can't wait for the sequel :-D
