Album Notes

The Album's live setting sets the mood and brings out the energy of an Urban Edge performance. Mixing Smooth/ Contemporary Jazz grooves with R&B and Brazilian influences the band delivers the "fun factor" to a very tuned-in audience on this date. The interaction among the band members is evident and reflects a very high level of playing. The band delivers a true concert with great style, musicianship, showmanship and excitement. Frank brings his fiery yet soulful brand of expression, moving from Tenor to Alto to Soprano saxophone, each with a unique voice. Greg Gonzalez breaks through with souring inventive guitar solos displaying blazing technique reminiscent of Al Di Meola. Plus a superb rhythm section consisting of Drummer John Brock, Bassist Daniel Becker and guest Percussionist Roland Guerrero deliver rock solid grooves which propel this group throughout the album. This is a band destined for greater success. Of special note, one of the original tunes, "Punta Mita", leads in with a unique narrative setting the mood of the song. This song is fast becoming The group's signature song.
FRANK ZONA & URBAN EDGE, rated as one of the top Jazz groups in the Southwest recently received critical acclaim from Jazz El Paso Connection, with the band regularly featured on their website.
