Album Notes

Drones. Noise. Bees. Microtones. Filters. Delays. Overtones. Distortion. Drone Level Orange, composed and recorded over the three years of Glissando Bin Laden's existence, is a testament to the power of group improvisations. Glissando Bin Laden formed in 2006 as a result of its members teaching at the same summer camp for children. Consisting of two violinists, bass clarinet, and two laptop performers, Glissando Bin Laden is New York City's most unique improvising quintet, combining the just intonation/noise acrobatics of Jim Altieri and Caroline Mallonee on violins, the low rumble and high squeals of Meighan Stoops on bass clarinet, and the live processing/synthesis wizardry of laptop performers Alex Ness and Sam Pluta. Glissando regularly performs in and around New York City at venues ranging from bars to experimental new music halls.
