Combining the aggressiveness of punk and the soul of funk with the vocal styling of hip-hop, Gov't Cheaze, Fronted by Kameelah Waheed, and hype man Xvertigo, has earned acclaim from fans and critics alike throughout the Delaware Valley . Gov't Cheaze uses this hybrid along with their powerful stage energy to broadcast a message following in the P-Funk tradition of "free your mind and your ass will follow."


Calling Philadelphia home, Government Cheaze's notable achievements throughout its eight year history include Philadelphia City Paper's 2003 top ten pick compilation “Larry Gold presents Don Cello and Friends” in which the band is featured on the European hit “Traveling.” Gov't Cheaze has been the featured act at the legendary Black Lily, performed at CBGBs in New York and made numerous TV appearances including a guest appearance on B–sides a teen dance show which aired in Philadelphia. Gov't Cheaze has also appeared on several local and European compilations as well as receiving international radio play, producing and writing for and with legendary artists such as Philadelphia International's Bunny Seigler, Larry Gold, and Helen Brunner just to name a few. The band also was a featured at the Black Lily Film and Music Festival and the legendary Roots Crew Picnic in 2008. Gov't Cheaze recently signed with Philly Through My Ear an independent label out of Philadelphia establishmed in 2002 by Will Smith Sr., and will be releasing their self-titled Philly Through My Ear / SoundMyne Entertainment label debut the summer of 2009.
