Hail Pettis, Full of Grace
author: Doc Schneider
This is album is a joy forever because it is a thing of beauty -- beautifully written, composed, arranged, performed and recorded. The Long Sleep was the first song to grab me, with its honest reflection on faith full of longing and humanity, and Grace's voice arches in heartbreaking fashion on the high notes. And then Gypsy Code and Bird May Love opened up with wonderful lyrics, touching performances and the fingerprints of an artist in bloom, like a rose breaking through the snow. Nine to Five is an instant classic -- with Flannery O'Connor and Sinclair Lewis touches painting the American scene. The determined Love Is There and the poignant Dancing are standouts. I love the innocent jubilation of Italy -- and the rising up, had enough of Heard Enough Now. Simply put, it is a well-crafted album by an artist who is the whole package. There is beauty and humility and love here, enough for the asking. On earth, it is not as it is in heaven -- but every now and then, it seems like it might be with the gift of a new singer-songwriting talent like Grace.
