Often considered one of their most artistic ventures. Featuring The Grasshoppers: Marco Joachim, Jason Appleton, Chris Wilford, and Dave Hamburger.

These Shimmering pop tunes often evince the singular charm of the early Beatles, while the gorgeously orchestrated “Under A Black Sun”—whose simple pivot line “Somebody turn the light on” implies a universe of subtext---is pure Sgt. Pepper. But “American Van” also knows its own hinky-tonk highways; “Saints In The Dark” pulls straight into Big Pink’s driveway, while “Love Safari” shoots curls with The Beach Boys. And only homeboys could pull off “king Of The Dudes” giddy misogyny: “I’m the hammer, you’re the nail/I’m the driver, you’re the screw.” Baby, you can drive my car. –
