Album Notes

The process of recording "Weird Fiction" was at times smooth and pleasant and at other times hairpullingly difficult. Done at Sound Module in Montreal, ambitiously and stubbornly refraining from using any digital apparatus as an experiment to see if it could be done and with noticeable results.
The songs were crafted by songwriter Brandon Shantz during his time busking the metro system in Montreal and working on cruise ships at age 23 and the gamut of bizarre and beautiful experiences and encounters with people, places and things while traveling through Alaska and the Mediterranean Sea.
The instrumentation is wide and varied employing some of Montreal's top players in some of Montreal's top bands and session workers. From the haunting pedal steel and mandolin of Joe Grass to Eddie Blake's vibrant double bass and Steve Creep's solid and brilliant work with drums and percussion.
