"If you like rock that makes you think, this is your kind of stuff. The first track, "Ringside Seat" will nearly have you breaking out your dictionary. It's got some great guitar riffs, and synthesizers, along with some catchy lines. It's the kind of music you listen to on a Sunday when you just wanna chill. No growling, no screaming, no lyrics that make you want to grab someone and shake them. It may also have you wanting to cook...there's a song called "Hot Sauce" and it speaks of putting hot sauce in everything. Their song, "That Would Explain Things" is a catchy number for sure. The chorus is one you can get stuck in your head and sing for hours on end. Hollow Density is made of two members, Terry Kempler and Scott Law. Two guys managed to put this stuff together and seemed to have fun with it. Not my everyday listening choice but one I will listen to again for sure."
Christie Gerber - Shockwave Magazine May 2010
The Hollow Density project began as an overflow of material from Scott Law’s second CD “See The Strings”. I had written two songs early on which became “Don’t Count Me Out” and “That Would Explain Things”. Both inspired by some new Marshall amps. As Scott’s album progressed, these two tracks sounded a bit too heavy with the other great variety of rock songs. Keeping with Scott’s style, we shelved the two songs for a time in the future, but not for long. Those Marshall amps kept beckoning me to write more songs.
So, we decided to do a hard rock album with bits of metal, some grunge, and some good old rock-n-roll. Making the sound more interesting was Scott’s smooth vocal style. A great change instead of the standard metal style shrieker. So with Scott’s intelligent lyrics, very, very little keyboards, and plenty of up tempo ‘riff’ guitars – Hollow Density was born.
The HD band is a mostly positive blend of music. (For angry hard edge screaming rock songs – check out Erplosis Daet.) There’s some straight rock and roll “Sweet Sammy”, brooding musings on the roots of evil in “Dark One”, a questioning of society’s mores in “Ringside Seat”, and optimism in “Moving Forward”. We also get to plunder a village like a mythic Norse tale in “Pillage” and even a tribute to the wonders of spicy condiments in “Hot Sauce” These are just some of the many themes for you to discover on this CD.
And, thanks to the support of this album, a second CD is in the recording stage!
Have fun, enjoy and Rock Out!
Terry
