I've been looking forward to a recording from this remarkable artist for a long time!  It's finally out.  Although it doesn't compare and will never replace the experience of watching him perform live,  it's the best thing you can get next to it.   The Gaspar Cassado Suite is my favorite, although the Bach Suites are amazing too.   Ian has a beautiful, unique tone that I can recognize from dozens of other performers.  It's full, warm, passionate, feels like it's coming straight from the heart....

Ian Maksin delivers beautiful music on his debut CD.  We were able to attend his pre-release CD concert in Northbrook in early Jan '10.  Ian performed most of the pieces included on the CD.  There's nothing like seeing an artist in person, but this CD captures his artistry well.  Whether you want to concentrate on the recording and enjoy his tone and technique, or you're looking for beautiful background music to study or drive by, you can't go wrong with Ian Maksin's 'Solo Flight'.
