Album Notes

There are lots of ups and downs in life. It's bumpy—never smooth. Our latest CD is a reflection of the challenges along the way. The all-new compositions stretch the dynamic spectrum from frozen to frenetic. Within the broad framework of "modern jazz," our individual stylistic idiosyncracies reveal themselves: hard-bop, neo-classical funk, jazz rock, foreigner flamenco, straight-ahead swing, romantic ballads, post-traumatic waltz, sephardic math rock, and children's music for adults. But above all, we believe that interplay, communication, and humor are the key ingredients in the mix. We love playing our music and we hope that you enjoy it too.

IPT began playing together in late 2006. Our goal is a more personal style of jazz focused on original compositions and an intimate trio sound. We're open to experimenting with traditional styles while also incorporating elements outside of mainstream jazz. As an international trio we bring different cultural influences to the mix: Igor Prochazka, piano (Germany); Christian Perez, bass (United States); and Diego Gutierrez, drums (Spain). The group has received awards from the Canal Isabel II Foundation in Madrid, Spain and Jazz Critique Magazine (Jazz Hihyo) in Tokyo, Japan.
