Indofin, the veteran Austin TX reggaeskapunkrockers who have been playing together as a band for nearly a decade, has announced that they will be releasing their second full length album titled, Two Times Broken, in July of 2010.
Some will remember Indofin's selftitled debut release back in May of 2005. Shortly following this release, the band would independently book and go on five separate tours in different regions around the country, just about everywhere from CA to FL. When they were home from tour, this close-knit hardworking group of friends would log hundreds of miles in TX and Louisiana on short weekend trips regionally.
"Back then, the band had five members, sounded like Sublime, and you never really knew what to expect but if you were there you would remember it, even though we might not."
Over the last five years, various members had different priorities as well as personal issues/problems and it seemed like the end was near. But Indofin just late last year decided to stick with it and they kept the band together with just guitar/vocals, bass, and drums.
"We just had too much great music that we hadn't recorded yet, and we really didn't have it in us to start a whole new band from scratch. We're all in our thirties!" said bassist Albert Huang.
The band also recently released a live album recording digitally online just last month to benefit the Haiti Relief Effort and they played some unofficial showcases during SXSW as well as some memorable San Antonio performances. The live recording was recorded at Ruta Maya in Austin on Jan. 15 2010 an INSITE sponsored event, and according to the band members, it is a well balanced mix of old favorites from the first album as well as new tunes from the upcoming record, most of which the band had never performed live before.
The band recorded "Two Times Broken" with local gold record producer Ben Blank, who has worked with a diverse range of renowned local/national musicians including Bob Schneider, Alejandro Escovedo, Tribal Nation, Killer Bees, and Trent Reznor. The band spent the months of Nov. 2009 - Mar. 2010 recording at Blank's home studio in West Austin. Ben also had done the mastering on the live album.
Indofin's 2X Broken is available at CD Baby, ITunes, Amazon, Emusic, Bandcamp, and everywhere online you'd buy music at.
"The first album was definitely rushed, we hadn't planned everything out and that ended up biting us in the ass. We really wanted to do it right on this album, and spend the proper amount of time to create a really great, perhaps timeless record. And Ben's oldschool and very experienced in the analog recording process and thats something new for us." -Albert
With 2X Broken, the band is stripped down to half the original members and consists only of the core powertrio of guitar, bass, and drums. The band abandons the turntables, samples, and hiphop and instead delves deeper creatively and spiritually into the all too familiar reggae ska punk soundscape they know all too well. The result is an uplifting infectious gem of a record chock full of toetapping grooves and catchy hooks that occasionally venture into new sonic territories, while maintaining a captivating display of musical evolution and maturity from the previous record. The members of Indofin wholeheartedly agree that despite the stripped down lineup, 2X Broken is a far superior work overall from anything the band had done previously.
