The Insieme Vocale Vox Cordis was founded in 1997 by a group of singers with broad musical experience. The choir bases its deep commitment and artistic qualities on the pleasure of making music together.
The group has given many concerts both in Italy and abroad, participating in festivals and international competitions. The choir has recorded both antique and contemporary music and has collaborated with many Italian cultural institutions and international artists (J. Busto, R. Fabbriciani, D. Fasolis, R. Gabbiani, G. Graden, S. Kuret, C. Høgset, F. Luisi, E. Mei, V. Myskinis, K. Ricciarelli, K. Suttner, P. White).

LORENZO DONATI
Composer, conductor and violinist Lorenzo Donati studied in Arezzo and Florence, taking courses at the Fiesole Music School and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He studied, amongst others, with C. Togni, E. Morricone, R. Pezzati.
Donati gained his diploma as a conductor after following a three year course and successively a one-year Masters at the Fondazione G. d’Arezzo, studying with R. Clemencic, D. Fasolis, R. Gabbiani, G. Graden, C. Hogset and P. Neumann.
He pursues his concert interests as conductor of the Insieme Vocale Vox Cordis, Arezzo, the Hesperimenta Vocal Ensemble, Arezzo, and the Vocalia Consort, Rome. He has won various first prizes and special prizes in national and international competitions with these groups (Arezzo, Gorizia, Lugano, Montorio, Vittorio Veneto, Senlis). Within his activity he has been able to realize productions in important festivals, collaborating with artists of recognized international fame, as well as with many musical ensembles. In 2007 he won the two first prizes in the International Competition for Choral Conductors ‘Mariele Ventre’ in Bologna.
Donati’s compositions have been performer in a number of European countries. They have been recorded by ensembles and soloists, and published by several Italian Publishing houses. His choral works have been commissioned and/or performed by the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Coro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Coro Giovanile Italiano, Joyfull Company Singers of London, St. Jacobs Chamber Choir of Stockholm. Amongst notable acclaim in international competitions Donati has received prizes from the Arezzo competitions (1996 and 1999), Gorizia (1999 and 2002), Rome (1999), Avellino (2003) and Vittorio Veneto (2007).
He collaborates with a number of national cultural institutions such as the Tuscany Choral Association, Centro Studi Musicali F. Busoni di Empoli, FENIARCO, Festival Incontri Polifonici Città di Fano, Guido D’Arezzo Foundation. Donati teaches choral music and choral conducting at the Conservatoire in Trento.
