Album Notes

You need principles to develop a strong personality. In Jaxn’s third album “Principles Before Personalities”, that message is loud and clear.

JAXN doesn’t take long to show you where he is coming from in the first song of the album called “Hi’s and Lo’s” (produced by SCRATCHES AND Q-LOGICS). It’s a narrative which gives you a brief history of growing up on the “south side” of Framingham MA. In the 80’S 90’S and present day, life in the neighborhood of Beaver Park was literally on the other side of tracks. The horns of the train in the beginning of the song remind you of that.

The hook, “It’s the same wherever you go, you never know” gives us the argument that you don’t have to be from the “big city” to experience “big city” crime.

The next song , “We’re Here” (produced by Golden Child and Q-Logics) featuring E the Real, is a Rap Attack for all those who think JAXN and the art form of RAP are dead. The hook “Were coming out running amuck” says it all. Hearing him call out “commercial rappers” is a must.

Crashing the industry party is what Jaxn does next when he teams up with fellow rapper Slink Supreme. “Party Crashers (produced by Golden Child and Q-logics) is a song that warns of “throwing elbows” so you better make room.

The first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem. “Hello my name is Jaxn and I’m a ranging rapoholic” starts off “Rapaholic”. Produced by Pauly Fingaz and Q-Logics, Jaxn teams up with rapper JDO. Jaxn and JDO have no problems “sharing” their weakness on this one. You actually feel like you’re sitting in on a meeting. If you think you have a problem, listen to these two.

In case you forgot who you were listening to at this point, Jaxn reminds you in “Remember the Name” (produced by Pauly Fingaz and scratched by Golden Child). In this song DJ Golden Child scratches “Remember the name…..Havok House motherfucker”, so you don’t forget.

If you want to buy something buy the next song “Bodega Sold Dreams” (produced by Pauly Fingaz and Q-Logics). Jaxn consults, not to buy what society determines for your destiny, but to make your own.

Sometimes the picture isn’t as clear, so Jaxn helps you out on the 10th song of the album called “Focused” (produced by S. Grace). A clear mind and not getting sidetracked is the focus here. You can’t lose sight when you listen to this one.

In the song “Misery” (produced by MATTEO GETZ and Q-LOGICS), Jaxn raps: “It’s all the same, just the name of the states change”. The song talks about the struggles one may have growing up poor. If you’re in misery then this song will give you company. You’ll be singing “Children of the ghetto…..” for a long time after you hear this one.

The following song, “Agree to Disagree" (produced by ADVEKET), Jaxn calls out his critics. “Let's agree to disagree” is the theme as he leaves the “haters” by the wayside. “A day being me, is still a better day being you”, JAXN raps on this song. Enough said.

The next song “Role Call” (produced by Exquisite and Q-Logics) is a calling out of his boys he grew up with. He asks them all to be accounted for, after all these years. You can put any of your friend’s names in the song and relate.

Jaxn’s “Another Thing Coming” (produced by Golden Child and Q-Logics), reminds us to think again: “Don’t think you getting over”, on this one. Trying to keep up with the fast flow and horns on this song is worth your time.

If you’re style is whack, Jaxn consults to “Kill Your Style” on the 15th song of the album (produced by ADVEKET). Here Jaxn talks about “dickriders” in the industry who have no originality. He unleashes a verbal assault on those Herbs until they eventually feel like they have to kill their style.

In “Acquired Taste” (produced and scratched by Matteo Getz) Jaxn put on notice all those who want to challenge his authenticity. In the last verse of the song known as the “penalty round”, Jaxn beats them down with an attack that leaves you mesmerized.

This brings us to the 17th song of the album “Sure Ya Right” (produced by Matteo Getz). Here Jaxn “clears the air” when it comes to those posers in the industry. He asks them sarcastically, “So what’s that like?” As he challenges their fake ways.

In the second to last song “Memorial Day” (produced by S. Grace) Jaxn eulogizes all those we’ve lost along the way. He also finds time to give thanks and appreciation for all those who’ve supported him throughout. It's a tear-jerker of a song that leaves a lasting impression.

The album closes out on a high note with “Wassup Mayn” (produced by Adveket). Jaxn declares: “While you were sitting pretty, I’ve been getting busy”. This is a true song and album that will leave you wanting more.
