J Ryan: The Bio
Background:

Self-taught rock/alternative rock musician who has been singing since he was 13 and playing guitar since the age of 17 (professionally at 26). Brought up in India, J Ryan performed at many gigs until moving to Muscat, Oman in 2000. He performed in Muscat for 7 years – 6 hours a night, 6 days a week. He’s an outstanding cover artist who performed an incredible range of artists, often perfecting the song to his own standards and which customers often said they preferred. A guest commented during one of his last shows "I wish the guys from Pink Floyd were here to see Ryan play The Wall. They would not believe it."

2007
• David Alyassin, front man of Racecar (a popular alternative rock band from New Mexico, US) asked Ryan to cover one
of the band’s songs on either of their two albums. David was incredibly amazed with the outcome and it is still featured
on the band’s MySpace page.

2008
• Started work on his debut album.
• Made a home video for the first song ‘Zoe’.
• Video was entered into the UK’s Babelgum Music Video Awards in November 2008 – it reached the semi-finals and was
made available on i-Tunes for UK and Italian users. A comment about the video from one of the voters was made:
“Such mastery. This is the sound of the future.”
• ‘Zoe’ featured regularly on OTC (Off The Chart Radio)
• Received a message on MySpace from Carl, bassist, Razorlight (top UK band) to say how much he liked the song, Zoe

2009
• ‘Zoe’ reached number one on OTC’s “The Unchart’ in January and remained in the top 3 for 14 weeks
• First gig as a solo artist in Kathmandu, Nepal was sold out.

2010
• Regular performer at an exclusive lounge in Kathmandu, Moods.
• Released his debut album, Alone (produced, mastered and engineered the whole project)
• Performed in the UK where feedback was phenomenal

Plans for 2011
• High profile gigs in the UK
• 2 month tour in the US

Comments from fans include:
• This Guy played at the Station (Knebworth, England) recently and I was blown away by his talent. This is Real Talent in a
time of plastic wannabes. (Paul Gould, Manager, The Station, Knebworth, England - Facebook)
• He can adapt his voice to sound like anyone, but he also has his own incredible voice as well. He’s amazing. (Nick
Boddy, Oman)
• His album, Alone, is fantastic (Linda Ellis, Stevenage – Facebook)
• So we can get you in again, my punters have not stopped going on about you and I UNDER ESTIMATED your talent, my
apologies. I would like to promote your night on a "different level", complete with staging, lighting etc (Paul Gould,
Manager, The Station, Knebworth – Facebook)
• Mr Ryan you are just straight-up talented. Beautiful voice, tons of flare. You are one wicked musician. (Quentin Rodney
Reid, Musician, Minnesota)
• Dude your voice kicks my ass. (Adam Churchwell, Annex Entertainment, Maryland)
• Still in his prime, Ryan has built the resume of a 60 year career musician and it looks like he has no plans of stopping
anytime soon. (Examiner.com, U.S.)
