ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The present fight and cry of the Children of the African diaspora can be heard and felt in the music of Soul-Reggae band, Judah Tribe. The band has members representing the USA, Haiti, Ecuador, & more, each bringing their own unique story in this fight for Peace, Livity, Equal Rights, & Justice. Led by singer/songwriters, Josh David(bassist for Tomas Doncker Band, Andy Allo, Q-Tip, Joy Denalane, Soul Cycle), and "The General" Eric Toussáint(Riddim Nation,Jr Reid) the revolutionary sounds of Judah Tribe has been heard from New Jersey Performing Arts Center, to Brooklyn Academy of Music, as a champion of the call to justice for Sean Bell with their tune, "Judgment", and also at Lincoln Center singing the world disaster chant "Help Us JAH" in honor of the victims of the 2010 Earthquake in Haiti. What they describe as Soul-Reggae; the "Soul" being their individual experiences that make up their unique sound, & "Reggae", which means "to the King", is a mix-up of many influences from past to present. One can hear sounds reminiscent of Sam Cooke & The Soul Stirrers, Al Green, The Jackson 5, The Wailers, the funky elements of Parliament Funkadelic, Ethiopic traditional music, and more contemporary musical styles of hip-hop and R&B.
The message of Judah Tribe is one that brings to light the life and example of Ethiopian Emperor Haile Sellassie I, whom to Rastafarians is God or JAH. Many of His teachings and spiritual directives can be found in their lyrics along with scriptural groundations used to help bring solace to the soul of the listener for the many problems that the people of the World face, through faith in JAH.
