This Graham Parker song originally appeared on a 20-track compilation tribute CD titled, "Piss And Vinegar - The Songs of Graham Parker" which was released in 1996. I'm Just Your Man was first released by Graham Parker on the album, The Mona Lisa's Sister in 1988.
Regarding Piss And Vinegar: Bill Nutt had this to say, "It's interesting to hear Parker's comments about some of the songs covered on this tribute. Several times he dismisses a song with a remark like 'That's just me playing with words' or 'There's nothing meaningful in this.' But the bands on this album clearly don't feel that way. These performers looked for and found the kernel of emotional integrity in these songs. For them, as for Parker, compassion is no ordinary word."
If there is one thing that Jack has a reputation for, beside his own unique style, voice and way of looking at the world, it is putting compassion into what he sings. We trust that listeners will appreciate how Jack has accomplished this feat with the song, I'm Just Your Man, and in the process how he has made it unique to himself but still retains the feel of the original lyrics.
