Sultry Soulful Neo-Soul/Jazz Singer

Jameelah's desire to pursue a career singing and performing started at the young ageog 6 years old. Coming from a family of musicians and singers, she grew up in the midwest performing in many local bands in her home-town Kansas, as a backup singer and lead vocalist.

She along with other members of her family formed and joined several singing groups and performed many covered songs of artist such as, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Teena Marie, Patti La Belle, etc... Although, she received much recognition and many rewards performing as a solo act, her passion was with writing, producing and performing my own material.

She relocated to Colorado in the early part of 2000 and continued to perform songs of some of her favorite
singers like Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Heather Headley and many of the neo-soul and smooth sounding recording artist of today and yesterday. But her desire was to become a recording artist and sing her own material.

After networking with local musicians, she start a band called "Jameelah and the Soulful Grooves". All the while, she also developed a Production Company/Record Label called "Jameelah Productions Inc", and co-produced her debut CD "Jameelah's World", with Bryan Gordon, the base guitar player in her band.

Her CD is soulful, jazzy and smooth. It's neo-soul/easy listening with lyrics expressed from her soul and expressions of relatable life experiences.
