Album Notes
Jason Dowty is no stranger to the music business. As a former member of the Blackground/Virgin records vocal group, Outsiderz 4 Life, Jason has had the opportunity to work with powerhouse producers Static Major, Teddy Riley, and Timbaland just to name a few. Not to mention he recorded a duet with Aaliyah, “Ain’t Never”. Well, after a boyband carrer singing about bling, Cristal and rollin’ on dubs, Jason Dowty has finally come into his own. “When you’re with a group, everything is a committee decision. “, says Jason, “I wanted to get more personal with my music, so I decided to do a solo project.” His new album “HomeGrown” is laced with down home beats, honest lyrics and a new kind of Rural Soul that teases the ears with gospel harmonies and electric heartfelt emotion. The first track, “HomeGrown”, tells the story of how his journey has brought Jason full circle back to his roots. Then he takes you from the fun of club tracks like “Platonik” all the way to the intimacy of love in “Hey You”. Jason’s voice soars through the album taking us through every range of emotion without the mask of insecurity that most artists wear. If you only listen to one album this year, make HomeGrown, you will not be sorry!
