Album Notes

The ambient instrumental music performed on oboe, English horn, piano and guitar captures the mood of special places in Glacier National Park. Each of the 12 selections were composed with waterfalls, mountains, lakes, and hiking trails as inspiration. The concern about the melting of the glaciers and changing features of the park, probably created by global warming, inspired the creation of this collection of music. While the music is primarily soothing , there are exciting compositions that can also capture the exhilaration an explorer can experience while visiting Glacier National Park.

Susan Pena of the Reading Eagle writes "StillnessSinopah", "Sundrenched Tamaracks, "Higline Trail", "Hanging Gardens", "Snow White Ptarmigan", "Hidden Lake", and "Trail of the Cedars" all celebrate the beauty of the park."

Anyone who has experienced the beauty of outside natural spaces will hopefully be reminded of the peace and stillness they felt while visiting this place.

Glacier Soundscapes is wonderful

Glacier Soundscapes is performer/composer, Jill Haley's newest release and it is wonderful. Jill Haley is a professional Oboe and English Horn performer and composer who has been working in the musical field for over 20 years. In addition to a CD done with the help of her husband, Guitarist David Cullen, Jill Haley has put out six albums with the other two members of the band, One Alternative. She has helped with releases at the music studio Windham Hill Records, at the behest of its creator, Will Ackerman and more than a few orchestra’s call on her to fill their Oboe section. With such a diverse and brilliant career behind her, is it any wonder that Glarier Soundscapes, created to bring life to the Glacier National Park, is such a joy to listen to? The Instruments are played with a precision and care that is a dream to listen to. The compositions were put together extremely well, and the music feels alive, comforting. The Guitarist, David Cullen, plays his parts perfectly as well, adding to the composition being produced instead of taking away from the delightful sound. Come to that, the term “Soundscapes” I find to be highly accurate. Listening to this album is like seeing an artist work on a painting that they love. The soul of the piece is laid before the listener and found to be a pure work of art. This album can easily be used for relaxation, for meditation, or simply as a beautiful set of tracks to listen to. It’s versatility is just another one of the amazing things about it. An album of this caliber doesn’t come often, and is deserving of more praise than this lowly reviewer can muster. Jilll Haley lets the music come alive, waking you up almost like a splash of spring water does when camping. This album earns its five out of five quite deservingly. Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 pentagrams Review by Brandy "Kitsune" Ackerley Pagan Radio Network
