"Mysterious and ancient, yet contemporary and innovative, ORIGINS evokes emotion while allowing you to feel the passion with which the tracks were created. ...Jillian's voice is delicate and powerful, dynamic and compelling — a finely-tuned instrument which becomes a part of the music so intimately that at times one forgets they are listening to a vocal album."
— Pete Havey, Mystic Soundscapes

"Better than Enya."
- iNewAge.com

"Where Enya Brennan left off, Jillian Goldin could make a good beginning. Enya is noted for her ethereal vocals that are enveloped in New Age and Celtic themes. Jillian Goldin takes wing and soars aloft on her new album ORIGINS, aptly named as her first foray into the genre. ...Her voice is warm and her delivery is that of a friendly musical raconteur that will appeal to a vast audience. I can’t wait for the next album."
— RJ Lannan, New Age Reporter

"It’s thick, it’s rich, it’s dense, it’s relaxing."
— Jody Whitesides, Single of the Day

"Wonderful work of art... I couldn’t keep myself away from commenting on the simple yet deep, moving thoughts and feelings captured through the lyrics."
— Shankar Dhanasekaran, New Age Vibe

ABOUT THE ALBUM

Blending exotic instrumentation with passionate and ethereal vocals, the earth comes alive as ORIGINS invokes its new beginnings. With the magic of musical storytelling - and inspirations such as Enya and Loreena McKennitt - Jillian takes you on a journey through the awakening, and invites you to celebrate in its mysteries.

Noting the lack of lyric-centric works in contemporary New Age music, through ORIGINS Jillian emphasizes her belief that words and music together have the potential to traverse exciting terrain, weaving an elaborate tapestry of sound and thought that is unique to one's own perceptions. The album is as much an exploration in text as in music, unified by themes of mystery, plight, and catharsis.

The journey begins with "Hajime," as Spring paints the earth green. In "Red July," this wooded sanctuary is stained with blood, but "The Winds of Change" offer new hope for beauty and peace. "The Secret Guards of Kalé" remind us that there are perils still in sight, while "Wildland" catapults us into the carnal excursion that will be "Twilight Chaser."

When the hunt is over, one finds that there are more ancient mysteries yet to be uncovered - and "To the Forgotten Temple..." leads us to the eerie domain of the water spirits in "Breathe and Dive," whose charm is enough to make time melt away. In "Avalon," one longs for the exquisite beauty of a land called home, but "Shadows" serves as a rude awakening to the realities that exist outside that veiled world. Finally, "Deliverance of Heart" reminds us that one thing binds us in this life, and always will: love.

ABOUT JILLIAN

Jillian Goldin’s music, both earthy and ethereal, reflects the awe and passion of timeless nature. Its soul-touching alchemy has attracted attention and multi-award-winning acclaim, deriving from her talent both as a classically trained vocalist and songwriter. With her debut albums ORIGINS and THROUGH SAND AND SNOW, Jillian responds to the lack of lyric-centric works in contemporary New Age/World music. Jillian's music is being broadcast to more than 8 million listeners worldwide, spanning over 60 stations including XM and Sirius satellite radio - a list that is rapidly growing. The artist has also amassed a passionate fan base online. In the listener-voted music competition OurStage.com, she triumphed over twenty thousand songs to win the $5,000 Grand Prize, and has garnered the New Age/World Prize thrice over. With other awards including third place in the Indie International Songwriting Contest, Mystic Soundscapes’ Best of 2007 Award, and dozens of online features, Jillian Goldin is steadily becoming both a critical and popular favorite – and redefining what we think of New Age/World music along the way.

Beautiful
author: Andrew L.
If anyone can remove the stigma of ‘blandness’ contained within New Age music from the casual listener, it’s Jillian. Her first album is not only incredibly polished, but also sounding less like a debut, and more like an inspired third or forth album from an established artist. The level of focus and confidence on display here is rare among any musician. The focal point of the album is obviously Jillian’s amazing voice. Her complete control of both it’s power and emotion is awe-inspiring to behold, and it’s tone and clarity is unmistakable. It is one of the most pure voices I’ve heard in a long time. Lyrically, it is pretty clear why Jillian chooses to feature English vocals as opposed to a ‘sacred’ language such as Latin. Her lyrics have a poetic, timeless quality to them, and complete the illusion of being in a different place; wherever she chooses to take us. Melodically, just about every song comes up as being expressive and interesting. The attention to musical detail is staggering, through vocal harmonies, percussive textures, understated synths, and ethnic instruments; each song stands alone both stylistically and thematically, though the album itself feels completely cohesive. Each track segues well into the next, and though most of the tracks have an immediate hook that makes them single-worthy, the album is even stronger as a whole, making it much more than the (already excellent) sum of it’s parts. This is an album that leaves no stone unturned. Everything is accounted for, from beautiful melodies, engaging soundscapes, and thought-provoking and poetic lyrics, all brought together with Jillian’s captivating voice. It would certainly appeal to fans of New Age music, but ultimately transcends the genre, and I am certain it will find a much larger audience. The year is only about half over, but this is easily the best album I have heard in 2008.

I <3 Trance, and this puts me in a trance
author: bLiNd
I love trance because of the mood it puts me in and I love any genre that does the same. This New Age blend of pure bliss does it for me. The thing that sticks with me the most are the melodies, they are very well written. From cadence, to repetition, to rhythm, all of them have memorable qualities. That's also not to mention the beautifully written lyrics. I don't listen to a lot of lyrical music, but I do when it is done well. 'Done well' is an understatement for this ablum. Jill has an incredible voice first of all and knows how to use it, but she is also extremely talented in writing lyrics and music. Everything about this album is truly remarkable and one of the biggest things is, I DONT WANT TO SKIP ANY OF IT. This will be in my playlist/player for years to come I'm sure. AWESOME! *****

mmmm... New Agey!
author: David L. Puga
I've always dug the new age/world music. From old school Delirium, to E.S. Posthumus of the now, I've always loved the rich texture & ambient soundscapes that seem to draw you into a world all their own. Well, this album is no slouch in those departments. Filled with thoughtful lyrics set to extremely well done backing. From the joyful chantings of "To the Forgotten Temple" to the more ominous, darker confines of "Twilight Chaser", this album has a little something for everyone. So, do yourself a favor, & pick up this here albums.
