"Working with the fantastic young producer Bobby Halvorson and musicians Eric Johnson, Nick Blossom, and Kelly Rossum, as well as backing vocalists Helga Davis and Sonja Perryman, Jomama has brought the diva into the 21st century. We’ve just come through a period were the tag was used as justification for grown women to act like spoiled children, an era where anyone who sang a note (usually off-key) was deemed a diva, and where the accoutrements of celebrity and fashionista substituted for substance. But Jomama has tapped into the psychic and spiritual shift that’s occurring right now. We crave art. We crave something meaningful. We crave new directions and fresh options of being and possibility. Jomama uses diva artifice – fierce wigs and fiercer gowns; flawless make-up and wigs; attitude with a twist – as tools of divination. These are songs of love, songs of healing and peace.
