Love Story meets Love Story (Taylor Swift Remix)
Arranged by Jon Schmidt, Jake Bowen, Chuck Myers, Steven Sharp Nelson, Carl Sandquist and Michelle Schmidt
Written by Taylor Swift / piano/vocals: Jon Schmidt cello/percussion/vocals: Steven Sharp Nelson
This arrangement exists because of a music clearance foul-up on my youtube video, “Love Story meets Viva
la Vida.” Thinking clearances were properly handled, we were later dismayed to discover when you
create a mash-up (aka derivative work) you need personal permissions from songwriters before it can be sold.
Let’s just say, getting in touch with rock stars is a lot harder than it sounds.
Thinking of disappointing people was gut wrenching, to say the least. With that in mind, i never felt so
helped with a song as i have with this one. From sound engineer jake bowen’s miracle of assembling
Steven Sharp Nelson’s amazing cello brainstorms into something that made me weak at the knees to ideas
that would just come out of the blue, this arrangement is something i absolutely could never have created
on my own.
It is cool to think of the second love story part being used in a wedding. I imagine the entrance of the
flower girl...Then the ring bearer...Then the bride’s maids...The bride...The groom in awe, getting
teary-eyed...Etc.

When my awesome son spencer was starting his band at 15 years old, he liked to show me cool guitar
and drum clips on youtube. It was the first time i heard about things like double bass pedaling and guitar
sweeps. This arrangement of my favorite rachmaninoff piece was definitely inspired by my son.
