"The City Within" EP is a diverse, mellow blend of acoustic-folk and pop-rock music, playing to a wide demographic of avid music lovers. Anyone with a myriad of tastes between genres is given something to appreciate and enjoy on this album. From the instrumental "Intro" track to the power-pop song, "My Demise" and everything in between, this CD offers a unique mixture of styles. However, no one can deny the origin; Josh Carlton's voice is full of identity, immediately distinguishable against any other. His vocals range from a soft, smooth low end to a slightly grungy, powerful high baritone. Songs like "Invisible", a song written to draw attention to and show support for the Invisible Children's Foundation, demonstrate Josh's vocal ability as well as his prowess as a prolific singer/songwriter. And yet the album is not short of it's radio-esque songs either; "Strong Enough" is a powerfully written, melodic expression of conviction and strength through hardship.

No matter what you're looking for in an album, "The City Within" EP is the complete package. From the love ballad "For You", to acoustic folk tunes like "Coming Home", and with songs like "Invisible" that demand your complete attention and issue a challenge, a summoning if you will, for people to stand up and do what is right, this EP is guaranteed to keep you coming back for more.
