A window into Julie's world - from the political commentary of “The Old Man Says” to the sweet, hopeful innocence of “Bring You Home” to the timeless “Hidden Track”, Julie offers something for listeners of all kinds. The songs on “Upside Down” were written during her years in Mendocino, California, a creatively stimulating episode in her life. “Being compared to Leonard Cohen and John Lennon is a bit intimidating” Julie says, “I just want to tell the story within the song so that others can relate to it, can feel it.” In the studio, Julie purposefully kept the arrangements sparse, intimate, so that the listener feels like they are hanging out in her living room with her. Recorded during two sessions, one at Temple Studios in the Pygmy Forest of Albion and one at Old School Studio, perched above the Pacific in Caspar, this EP is a sneak peak to the full length CD soon to come. Peter Temple, of Temple Studios plays bass on three of the tracks - Julie plays guitar and provides the vocals on all of them.
