American version of Kirsty McCall singing Devendra Bernhardt songs, or a less brassy Melanie (of "Brand New Key"), personal songs woven with pastoral flute passages, multi-tracked harmonies as it walks a line between folk and homespun chamber pop-rock.

Album Notes

Canopy of Love : Is a love song written for my husband
That was Before: another memory in my life. Love gone bad, mistakes made in the past but its over.
I Know: My upbeat fun song.
I Remember Them all: Memories of my trip to Bulgaria and Yugoslavia
Thru and Thru: A challenge which turned into a song I bring to you.
Too Many: A birthday guitar part given to me by my husband is the start of this song. Lyrics are my thoughts on whats wrong with the world in a nut shell. .
I Don't Care What You Think: A song written for someone in mind that was annoying me. It turned into a fun song to sing. I felt better after writing the song.
My World: A song of our world that is either real or not.

I am thrilled that JIm Bouchard from Boston mastered my songs. In addition to this he added the following: On "I Remember", he played bass and programmed the new drum part.
On "I Know" he played bass
On "That was Before" he played bass
On "My World" he tweaked the bass part a lot, enough so that I think I might have mostly re-played it.
On "Thru and Thru" he played acoustic guitar and took out the keyboard loop I used.

Most of my songs have my husband RC Andrews playing acoustic guitar.
My niece Ashley designed my album art.
George Link my cousin designed the Painted flower with the picture of me on the inside of my album.

Thanks
Karen

The Album - Burnt Orange

Review of burnt orange This album is a delight. Life affirming, and uplifting, the singer-songwriter caresses us with her lilting voice accompanied by fine instrumentals. Featuring a mixture of base, flute, and guitar, with accents of vibraphones and bells set to jazzy, bluesy, or contemporary beat, the music never disappoints. From the dreamy to the sublime Karen lulls us into her world, and while there we find ourselves awash in our own dreams and desires. The song Canopy of Love, soft and dreamy, celebrates life and the beauty that can be seen in people as they walk among the majesty of nature. Set to a beautiful flute melody, and soft background guitar, you just feel happy listening to this one. That was Before, with it’s soft rock music, tells the story of a time of innocence and naïveté. The story chronicles the awakening of truth and disappointment in a bad relationship. A nice guitar tune with flute and bells accompany this nice song. I Know, set to contemporary music with a mix of instruments, reflects on the differences between a couple. One wants to put aside time to enjoy life, while the other can’t seem to leave the troubles of the world behind. I Remember Them All is a beautiful song of remembrances with the revelation that people all over the world want most of all to love and care for each other. A nice soft rock beat is perfect for this upbeat song. Thru and Thru is a bluesy, funky song featuring vibraphones, base, guitar, drums and flute. Interesting music is the highlight of this song with mystical lyrics. The catchy folk song Too Many tells the story of a person who suddenly realizes that their life is passing by. It’s difficult to be happy when you’re with the wrong person. I Don’t Care what you Think is a fun song about those loud, opinioned, overbearing people we run across in daily lives. Drums, guitar and flute comprise this soft rock song. Exotic music and silky smooth vocals come together to make the song My World fun and engaging. Sometimes our desires push us out of our nice little world only to find disaster in the making. I love the songs on this album. With beautiful music we can contemplate what it’s like to be human, and getting hurt along the way is the price we pay in our quest for happiness.
